Om. When Are We Home in Our Body?

Find the “home” and the “om” in yourself with simple but not always easy techniques.
Stay With the Sensation Without Running From It
If you’re going to experience pain, create a moment to observe it rather than escape it.
Mind Your Brain
I’ve given birth naturally three times, and each experience taught me the same truth: pain is a battle between sensation and the brain’s interpretation of it.
Pain is a signal. We can try to ignore it until it grows louder, or we can make space for it, seek help, and learn tools to soften it when it arises.
PRO TIP: A helpful rule of thumb - If you’ve been in pain longer than three days, it’s time to seek support or change your physical activity.
Activity:
Get to Know What’s Going On Inside
When we build our capacity to listen to pain, we start noticing warning signs early. This allows us to prevent many injuries and much of the long-term degeneration that sneaks up on people.
Ask yourself:
• How many areas are currently in pain? Write them down.
• Which ones do you feel will never be fixed? Just notice the belief—not the truth.
• Which require more information (doctor, X-ray, MRI)? Clarity gives options.
• Which areas hurt because they are overworking to protect another area? Compensation always tells a story.
Next, list the professionals who could help give you direction: Doctor, Naturopath, Chiropractor, Massage Therapist, Hendrickson Method Practitioner or Therapist, Acupuncturist, Craniosacral Therapist, Nutritionist, EMDR Therapist.
Finally, ask each area of pain to speak.
Write what it’s saying. Listen without judgment.
Then thank your body.
Apologize for the moments of neglect.
And write down what you can do next—one step toward relief.
Get Inspired
Seeing the whole picture is an incredibly calming experience. Although, it's very common to avoid seeking answers because of the cost or simply because we think it validates the worse and will require more effort.
There is always a beginning. There are always options. And your body can respond beautifully when given the right information.
Do not be afraid of clarity.
Information does not force action; it creates choice.
Waiting too long, however, can limit your options or cause changes that are harder to reverse. Just ask my brother who waited two years to check that odd shaped mole which IS an aggressive melanoma cancer. (*sending healing his way while he battles this).
At HerMedic, we assess using orthopedic tests, hands-on palpation, joint end-range motion, and the specific quality of pain to guide a treatment plan or referral.
Schedule an assessment today. Your next step toward ease might be simpler than you think.
Always luck.
