Hendrickson Method Fundamentals

This workshop is perfect for Licensed Massage Therapists who want to incorporate advanced techniques into their practice while learning about the fundamental principles that make the Hendrickson Method unique and effective.

What Is Hendrickson Method?

The Hendrickson Method is an advanced system of orthopedic massage and manual therapy that effectively treats acute and chronic pain, and eliminates soft tissue disorders. It is a gentle modality that involves rhythmic wave-like strokes, joint mobilization, and muscle energy techniques. This method is not painful to receive for the client, nor is it physically demanding for the therapist like most traditional massage and manual therapy techniques.

A passage from the Preface of "MASSAGE AND MANUAL THERAPY FOR ORTHOPEDIC CONDITIONS” by Thomas Hendrickson.

“The need for practitioners to address the increasing number of people in pain is growing dramatically. However, for too long, clinical musculoskeletal therapy has been painful to receive and straining for the therapist to perform. Hendrickson Method addresses these limitations and offers a revolutionary approach to treatment that relieves pain, restores function, and delivers care in a comfortable way for both the client and the practitioner.”

What are the Fundamentals?

1

Introduction to Muscle Energy Techniques

Muscle Energy Techniques (METs) are contract/relax methods aimed at facilitating muscle relaxation and lengthening the fascia. They are essential for both assessment and therapy, helping clients recruit and strengthen specific muscle groups while managing pain. METs effectively reduce trigger points and break down adhesions, alleviating tension and improving movement. They also aid in restoring normal muscle tone, enhancing joint mobility, and boosting circulation. This approach is especially advantageous for LMTs seeking to broaden their skill set and deepen their understanding of muscular dynamics. Join us to learn practical MET techniques for the major areas of the body, empowering you to enhance your practice and better serve your clients.

2

Introduction to Joint Mobilization

Joint mobilizations are among the most effective tools that a Massage Therapist can utilize to treat a variety of conditions. However, joint mobilizations are often overlooked in some education and training programs, leaving this valuable skill misunderstood and underutilized. Many massage therapists graduate without fully understanding what grades of mobilizations are in their scope of practice. As a result, they may miss out on a crucial component that could enhance the effectiveness of their treatments. Join us to learn various joint mobilization techniques for major areas of the body. Discover how to effectively incorporate joint mobilizations into your massage treatments. Find tools for addressing the needs of individuals with chronic or complex issues, and build your confidence in providing joint mobilizations when necessary.

Introduction to Wave Mobilization®

Soft Tissue Mobilization, also known as Wave Mobilization®, is based on Tai Chi principles and involves gentle, rhythmic movements that mimic ocean waves. Soft Tissue Mobilization unwinds tight muscles, tendons, and ligaments but it also realigns soft tissue into optimal position of function. It has healing effects that penetrate deep within the body and create long-term effects far beyond what is normally possible with a traditional massage.
